The economy has been on everybody's mind lately, and today, Roger Gray from Channel 56 interviewed me about how dental practices and dental patients have been impacted by the slowdown.
The truth is, many dental practices have been slower the last year or so, when people just didn't know what was going to happen with the economy, and their jobs and savings and so on. But I think that is changing to some degree, people realize that it is penny smart and pound foolish to put off necessary things, they always end up paying more and having MORE treatment!
The funny thing is that preventive dental care is the best bargain in the world, and taking care of problems when they are small and not painful is just so much better for everybody, both me and the patient! An ounce of prevention is truly worth a pound of cure!
In the last few weeks, I have seen several people who will have to spend thousands of dollars to take care of a problem that a few hundred would have taken care of if treatment had been done in a timely manner. I really sympathize with them, but what can I do?
My advice is, if you are on a limited budget- trust your relationship with your dentist, and just be real with him or her. Work with them, don't ignore or avoid the dental office. It will save you time, and money!
